It publicly supported institutions would get off their pompous podia and allow us unwashed to enter their sancta exclusivum, that would be a big improvement. This is a holdover from the narrow-bandwith days and the only thing that supports this policy is academic hot gasses generated by their most venerated (but not enough) product.
