- Subject: librarians as advocates for common sense environmental information
Paul Orum suggests that librarians be advocates for common sense
environmental information--I believe a clear need exists for an
organized, powerful voice for data/information users who are often
ignored in the noise from regulators and regulated (the debacle of
EPA's single facility identification system is ample evidence of
how the issues of data users get lost). As an earlier commentor
noted, it is not feasible to meet everyone's information needs in
a click. However, the information can and should be understandable
to an intelligent person who is not an expert on environmental
issues. That is not currently the case.
