Devon: You asked two questions. My reaction to each:

1) How do you differentiate between lobbing groups and "simple" coorporations with their own agenda? You don't. For better or for worse they're all playing in the same ball game.

2) As to limiting $ w/o limiting speech. A) The decision that $= speech was a decision made by our current court, so for now that's the law. It need not have been and it may not always be. B) The state of Main just elected several legislators and senators who took no private funds (used public money only)and several states other are trying to get similar systems into law. I'd like to hear more on their success &/or failure.

Which leads to question; "how to get a system changed when all incumbents were elected under present system?"
