Michael:

I am totally in agreement with you! Especially in the case of our U.S. House of Representatives, dealing with re-election every 2 years keeps them in a permanent campaign mode. As soon as they win re-election, they have to start lining up their money backers for the NEXT time. It's ridiculous. When do they have time to legislate effectively? It seems to me that they must ALWAYS be preoccupied, even in the House chambers, with thoughts of fundraising and M-O-N-E-Y!!!

Why IS it, does anyone know, that our U.S. House is crippled with the shortness of their own terms in office? With the President serving for 4 years, the Senate for 6, and the Supreme Court for LIFE!!! Maybe there should be a Constitutional Amendment lenghthening the term of House members to at LEAST as long as the president serves. Thus freed from the burden of being in a constant state of campaigning, they might be able to settle down to the work at hand, of representing us.
