I add my support for McCain-Feingold Bill as a start in the right direction. As some of you have mentioned, I am not happy with being sold a candidate and it brings me a lot of sorrow to think how many people are disillusioned from exercising their right to vote. At one time in our history, students in public schools were told to study hard and make the most of their talents because they might grow up to be the President. Now it means you will grow up to be president if you have old money, new money, soft money... I would like to see some meaty reform that works so I will have choices of good, solid candidates who worked hard to run for President or whatever office. I would like to know more about what individual states are doing and how we can bring that to a national level. Unfortunately, I don't see how Choice 1 can stand alone as the solution to the problem. It seems as if Choice 1 and Choice 2 go hand in hand or can't be separated from each other in helping us get back to one person, one vote. Yes, I agree, that campaign finance reforms are of little value because they will simply shift more special interest spending to lobbying. Why are we looking at these two choices separately?
