  • X-topic: Choice 1

Although elections cost a large amount of money, I think that it is unfair for individual donors to give large amounts of money to single candidates. No matter what anyone says, this indebtness has a corrosive influence. The company or individual who gives larges amounts of money, like Mark Rich, may come calling later. Furthermore, by suborning their mores to funding, candidates no longer represent the people but rather the interest groups, individuals, and corporations who paid for their bid for office. Campaign finances need to reformed to prevent this, and level the playing field. Only in this fashion can make our government more egalitarian and suitable for all people.
