In today's world it really does seem as if those who are able to pay a lot of money to help finance a politician's campaign are actually getting a lot more say than regular people who can't afford to do so. A person's financial situation should not be a hinderance to becoming involved in politics. Our democratic government is supposed to be representative of the people, not just the elite who are have so much influence. It has been the case for a long time that this is true, and the time is ripe to make a change. Proposals have been made to ammend the first ammendment symbolic speech, but there need to be other alternatives. Everyone needs to realize the intensity and importance of this issue.
