One thing that I think is left out is supporting and encouraging collaboration with other agencies that promote school readiness programs. For example I work for a library system and oversee two programs, "Raising A Reader" and "Reach Out and Read" that promote early literacy and brain development in collaboration with our health agency, medical clinics and child care centers. If we really want all children to be ready for school we have to start much earlier. Acknowledging the value of such programs and agencies, with or without funding, gives credence to their value and encourages schools to promote these types of programs to their families.
