I agree totally with you, Bob. Unfortunately, adult education is still preceived by many (even those in education) as Hull House -to teach newcomers to America or vocational training like auto shop, sewing, woodshop, etc.
We do indeed have English classes and vocational training, but our class offerings stretch far beyond those two important fields. The tremendous service which adult education provides to members of the community deserves a place in the master plan and deserves equitable funding. The excitement of seeing an adult student learn to read and for the first time able to read to his/her own children or the face of a senior citizen whose art work is being shown in an art show is just a small part of what adult education is about.
