Those that believe that there is duplication of services by K12 adult eduction and the California community colleges do not understand "adult students." All adult students are not the same. The students currently have the choice and are capable of making the choice that suites their individual circumstances.

As a K12 adult school teacher, I know that most all of the adult students, currently being taught in California community based adult schools, will not go to California community colleges.

First, the community college campuses intimidates them. Second, it is inconvenient to travel to community college campuses. Some may be ready to attend community college, as a result of their experience(s) at K12 adult schools.

I am sure that K12 adult schools and the community colleges, both, serve their students well. It would not be in the best interest of the State to loose (or to deny by intimidation) any adults striving to further educate themselves.
.I have been an educator in K12 adult education for almost 30 years. I began as a substitute and an instructional aid. Then a part-time teacher. For the last 27 years I have been a full-time vocational teacher for adults. I am active member/leader in the CTA and California Council for Adult Education. I am a second year NEA delagate. I have been politically active in these organizations, working for positive changes in K12 adult schools.
Prior to becoming a K12 adult school teacher, I had an established 18 year grocery career.
