Welcome to the online National Dialogue on how
to improve public involvement in EPA decision-making. Please join EPA, panels of experts, and a broad cross-section of individuals who are sharing their thoughts and ideas on this important topic with each other and with the Agency.
Over the course of 10 days (including a Saturday), the participants are discussing specific topics drawn from EPA's newly drafted Public Involvement Policy with Agency staff and public involvement experts. EPA wants your input on how this policy should be implemented. Because this is be a Web-based discussion, you can select the topics that interest you and participate at your convenience.
This Dialogue involves over 1,000 individuals, including citizens, representatives of industry, environmental groups, small business, states, local governments, tribes, and other groups. Participants can discuss the draft Public Involvement Policy and offer suggestions on how EPA should implement it. Among the topics under discussion are the following:
- Identifying and involving the public, including those hardest to reach;
- Providing information to the public;
- Creating effective public involvement opportunities during rulemaking
and permitting; and
- Encouraging collaborative processes.
Tooday's presentation involves several
