Submitting Formal
Comment on EPA's December 28, 2000 Draft Public Involvement
Policy
EPA invites you to use this page to submit
formal comments on its draft Public Involvement Policy. This is
the official way to offer the Agency your thoughts on its proposal
and by law anyone can participate in this process.
The Agency convened this National Dialogue
on Public Involvement in EPA Decisions as an additional way to
obtain public input on the Agency's public participation activities.
The messages that you and your fellow participants exchange through
this Dialogue are "conversations" between individuals and will not
be considered formal comments on the draft Public Involvement
Policy. Your ideas will, however, be particularly helpful to the
Agency as the staff craft the plan to implement the Policy.
Before submitting your formal comments
to EPA you may want to review the text of the
draft policy.
The comment period on the draft Public Involvement Policy closes
on July 31, 2001, so that you need not rush to compose your comments
during this Dialogue. In drafting your comments, clearly indicate
if you are for or against a particular aspect of the draft policy
and why.
In the preamble to the Draft Public
Involvement Policy last December the Agency asked for comments in
two particular areas and EPA would again like to call your attention
to these topics.
- How can EPA improve involvement opportunities for minority,
low-income and underserved populations?
- What EPA can do to encourage, promote and ensure effective
public involvement in programs that have been delegated to states,
tribes, and local governments?
You can submit your comments by electronic
mail to stakeholders@epa.gov
EPA will review all the formal comments
prior to issuing a final Public Involvement Policy early next year.
Thank you for your input.
