To all fellow contributers,
This is my first comment. My stance is for the privitization of social
security. The benefits being enjoyed by the people of Chile after 18 years of
privitization should be enough to convince most people of the potential
there. I have read many comments about people not knowing how to invest their
money and the potential for losses. The people of Chile didn't know anything
either and they are seeing 2-3 times the benefits under the new system as
under the old. I also would like to point out the returns millions of
Americans have seen with their 401k's and I' m positive that not all of them
were financial wizards, as I am one of them. This could also be headed off
by requiring that your funds be invested in only SEC approved mutual funds or
an indexed fund. Which would include a wide spectrum of stocks. I also do not
believe in means testing . Why should someone be penalized just because they
were successful in life ? They gave at least the same amount and are entitled
to the same in return.
Thanks MIke Mason
