Re: WEEKLY SUMMARY April 19-23

The summary speaks to status quo, makes class divisions, and privatization.
None speaks to true reform. I suggest the following:

1. Single-Payer universal national health care/long-term care paid by income
taxes on all wealth [no shelters for corporations or the wealthy]. Relief
from these taxes if unable to work/disabled/ deminished in mind, body, age.

2. Make national pensions carry the primary way of pensions for all citizens.
Again, income taxes on all income at all levels. [see item 1.]

3. Return to a Federal tax structure that is progressively indexed. The total
Federal Revenue pool must be shared by those who own/control all financial
wealth. Corporations should pay 40%, tariffs/excise at least 10%, those
individual returns above $90,000 per year with no shelters pay 15% of the
total pool, and individuals earning less than $90,000 pay 35% of the
total Federal Revenue Pool. The USA ranks 70th in corporate taxation on the
world scale.

4. The full health care, long-term care, decent pensions for all, living-wage
jobs/benefits for all able, fair federal tax laws on progressive scales must
be NATIONAL PRIORITIES.

5. The mass media, publishing houses, movies, etc. must be taken from the
great corporations that are shaping a national stream of thought based upon
corporate profit and concentration of wealth into the hands of a few.
Nationalizing these means of mass communication/thought control must be done
in the beginning. Then a return to privatization under careful controls that
benefit the masses--not the elite.

6. This is just the beginning. What you report is more of the patch
work/smoke screen that will keep elite greed doing business as usual for the
wealthy. There is no reform in your summary. If your summary were true in
terms of an accurate random sample free of corporate mainstream thought and
based upon truly knowledgeable citizens' opinions, it would NOT be as you
have written.
