RE: Social Reform as National Priority

Mr. Green wrote:

The United States of America must make universal health care
and long-term care national priorities. A national pension
program must be developed that will cover all citizens at a
level greater than a small suppliment to some other means of
retirement income.
We, as a people, must have...

Sir,

I have seldom seen so much Socialistic bias coupled with
misconceptions written in a single letter. Most of the value
of American corporations is owned by us, we the people thru
our pension plans and savings. The primary benefociary of
corporate success is the federal government through double taxation
of profits when earned and when distributed. Corporations cannot
"pay" tax as do individuals; they just collect it from us through the
cost of our goods and send it to the government. What is actually
happening is the redistribution of wealth from younger middle
class workers to the elderly of all classes and to the poor. If
you want to advocate a greater tax burden from the truely
wealthy, it might find support since this was the original
intent of the income tax laws, but most corporate taxes are in fact
paid by middle class consumers probably such as you and me.

Another point: Why do some people have a right to healthcare,
pensions or anything else at the expense of others obtaind through
force of the government. There is no such right written in our
Constitution. That is the purpose of a Constitution, to list
the powers surrendered to the government, and to protect the
minority from the tyranny of the majority who so lightly trade their
liberty for some security or finacial gain. Values (including charity)
are personal choices, not to be legislated through government. Where
is my right to choose in your scheme?
