I would suggest that one of the 'principles' of living in a
nation-state as it is envisioned as this time is a social contract
(explicitly identified in our Constitution as an example). This
does not imply it is or should remain static. Nation-states evolve
or devolve over time just as people and other organisms do. We have
three options:
1) live within the contract as currently understood,
2) modify the contract as circumstances warrant, or
3) move to another nation-state which better coincides with personal
beliefs and ideals (in the 'marketplace' of two hundred plus
nations, there should be one or more which meets our criteria).
I choose option 2 at this point.
