Subject: RE: Question for Tuesday, September 26: What Can Libraries Do,What Do Libraries Need
Rebekah's story about what her library accomplished is very inspiring. Earlier in the day Paul Orem mentioned a very comprehensive list of "what people need" to get involved in environmental issues. Libaries certainly can't fill all of those needs, but Rebekah's story shows that they can fill some. I'm wondering whether libraries can do more by strengthening ties with other community resources such as schools, community groups, boy/girl scouts, local newspapers, etc. Can partnerships with such groups strengthen local capacity and are libraries the right ones to be seeking out and forging such partnerships?
