Each year a ton of money is spent campaigning, and campaign finance reform will not do a great deal to change that. Something needs to be done, because campaign finance reforms only focus on contributions. On the other hand, they do not affect lobbyists and the money spent on lobbying politicians. Lobbyists are those persons, not including citizens, that influence the decisions of a politician in order to benefit his/herself. In addition to campaign finance reform, there need to be restrictions placed on the lobbyist. These restrictions do not need to be extreme, but effective. Voters should have a stronger role in the scheme of things. One of the main roles of a politician is to work for his/her people, and when this does not happen the voter should have the right to do something.
