I'm opposed to most of the proposed solutions to the alleged campaign financing "mess," because they address only a SYMPTOM of the real problem. All are akin to putting a bandage on a skin tumor or to treating TB with cough syrup. The patient may look or sound better (for a while), but the real disease has NOT been cured.
The true illness is the government's excessive power over individuals' freedoms and wallets. Until its ability to reward and punish inequitably is curtailed, affected individuals and groups WILL try to influence it, with campaign "donations" being one of their primary tools.
