  • X-topic: Introductions

As a newly registered voter, I find it deeply disillusioning how much money affects who wins a vote. Naturally, I have been raised to appreciate and love the democratic process and all it does for me, but I have to question the legitimacy of the system, now, when the actions of all but a few participants in Washington are motivated by money and power, not improving America for everyone, including the poor. I know that the desire for power and control have a place in politics because that leads to competition and debate, but when it overwhelms people's efforts to create lasting, effective improvement, democracy doesn't seem quite fair.
