I am sympathetic for your position, but still understand why it might be necessary to not "piss off" current power-holding persons. In our government, there is tremendous focus on the election of officials, that people choose their leaders. Once a person has taken an office, it is then their job to serve the people. They must do certain duties and give back to those in their community. Now, if this office-holder performed well, or even adequately, it would be unnecessary and illogical to boot him from office because then it would be necessary for a transitional period for the next honored person. This period would be one full of dead time where the political leader had to learn the ropes of the job and get acquainted with the people he/she serves. So why would any community, or supporter of progress, wish this ineffectiveness upon the whole? I will answer that ehy wouldn't and shouldn't
