Brian, it's fascinating to take your example of a school election and to project it into state and national politics. You're right, the little things do add up. What would have been the response by other students, parents, teachers, and administrators if you had held "fundraisers" to help you to raise cash to fund your campaign? What if, say, the drama club had contributed a large sum to you? My guess is that all the "adults" would have frowned upon such activity, saying it would corrupt student government. What do you think?
