Hello Carol:
Your observations are astute and your suggestion is definitely interesting.
Perhaps if you described the school garden as an outdoor classroom this might inspire additional support for your concept. Outdoor lectures could be conducted on days with suitable weather and with students who would not nbe unduly distracted from the actual lecture itself. References could be made to Socrates who allegedly often lectured his students in a garden or in a grove of trees. Frankly I would have appreciated being lectured to in such an environment.
A relative of mine who was a teacher also expresses his enthusiasm for this concept and suggests that consideration be given to an enclosed courtyard. He also expresses concern that sometimes the normal school season does not coincide with the germination period of many plants.
Good Luck - and forgive my impertinence.
Michael
