You are one of the few! Not many elementary teachers have ANY ECE classes in their background. I know that at Chico there are some ECE classes suggested to Liberal Studies students. I am so glad for that.
I know for a fact that Child Development prepares the teacher for working with young children up to third grade. This preparation also helps understand the learnings of even the high school aged.
I started out as Liberal Studies, but ended up Child Development, also. I know that I can probably make more money in the elementary schools, but I enjoy the "joy of learning" that I get with preschoolers.
What I am trying to say, is: to learn how children learn, you need Child Development!
