I also believe that preparedness in philosophies and theory of all pre-service teachers is important. Not only that different teacher preparation programs have different philosophies and that makes the task even more difficult. There should be a set standard of required reading of all pre-service teachers. The other thing that needs to be considered is extended the amount of time a pre-servcie teacher takes to complete the teaching credential certification. On nummerous occasions students in credential programs say that because the program is one year, they often do not do thier readings and just "wing" it while in class. If that is the case, although students may have earned that credential, it still does not mean they are prepared and something needs to be done about the system of educating future teachers.
