Do not forget the socialization aspect of Adult Education. Many of us spend our days at work and our evenings home with children and with the single parent families there are people who do not get a chance to have social interaction outside the office with other adults. Classes like pottery and basket weaving can fill this void. In addition it can be a forum for providing parenting classes outside of the mental health organization. I have an adult daughter (22 yrs old) with 2 children. She exited her abusive marriage 8 months ago and has acknowledged the need to take parenting classes and anger management classes but has not found a format that is not under medical programs at less than 20.00 per class. She needs to socialize with other single parents with similar issues and learn from them as well as teach them her own positive ideas. Together they could help each other. A teacher in that environment is a moderator.
