Reply to Michael Novick. You are absolutely correct. This is a state with a high potential for wealth and a healthy life for all of the residents. Yet we fail meet the basic needs of teaching our young people sufficient skills to earn a living. The next generation cannot afford homes or make enough money to get their kids into college. Instead we keep adding prisons to house the uncontrollable. We offer section 8 housing for low income and welfare for single parents families. We need to focus on education to teach young people how to earn a living and make sure each of them sees an opportunity to get ahead.
