Common Knowledge: Pittsburgh
Common Knowledge: Pittsburgh
(CK:P) is a research project which is working to
develop a scalable networking infrastructure in support of
curricular activites and educational reform. Many of the project's materials
are available on the Internet.
Here are some resources produced by CK:P.
- Collaborations.
The original CK:P collaboration involved the
Pittsburgh Public Schools, the
Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center
and the
University of Pittsburgh.
The project has now grown to include a number of businesses and nonprofits.
These new collaborators bring expertise and resources which are shared
by the various project participants.
- Publications and
Presentations.
Where practical, CK:P grant proposals, progress
reports and system documentation are available online.
-
Assessment. CK:P uses case studies and usage statistics
to evaluate project activities.
- Process Models.
A major project
goal has been the institutionalization of the use of networking
technology and its application to the process of curriculum
revision and reform.
- Technical Products.
These include
school-based servers, procedures for automated client setup
and a range of options for Metropolitan Area connectivity.
If you would like more information about the project, send email to: info@ckp.edu.
Common Knowledge: Pittsburgh, a K12 network testbed, is
partially funded by the National Science Foundation.
