The Pittsburgh Public Schools (PPS) is the educational site for the Common Knowledge: Pittsburgh project. As an NSF-funded network testbed we are interested in two main research questions:

What is the viability of the Internet for K12 education?

What steps are necessary to institutionalize the use of wide-area networks in an urban school district?

Common Knowledge: Pittsburgh provides a number of PPS educational staff with the opportunity to learn about both the technical and educational aspects of the Internet. The educational staff then supports others - teachers, students, staff and parents as they learn about the Internet and develop curricular based activities. You can learn more about the education staff by visiting their homepages. If you would like to learn more about the Pittsburgh Public Schools and their Internet activities, visit the PPS homepage.
