RE: Study Results

In response to J.P.

You only managed to attract the attention of us hardworking GenXers and one from the latex generation. I would say that your "study" failed. I found it necessary to respond to you because I was fascinated by the ramblings of one who seems intelligent yet displays a total lack of logic in response to this issue. Perhaps, you are merely amusing yourself. If so have fun. If not, please check your premise.

Being an economic island unto one's self is certainly not a capitalist concept. Capitalism is based on voluntary trade. Trade requires more than one participant, one cannot be a customer to themself. The reason Capitalism is the best economic system is due its social nature. It requires the fair and equitable trade of goods among its participants. Everyone who is productive will benefit. Everyone who is productive will gain wealth. Socialism redistributes wealth (as in looting) and supresses production causing a decline in economic growth. The reason socialism always fails is that you cannot continue to redistribute without new wealth, socialism does not promote new wealth.

>>>Ah yes, playing the old "civility" card. <<<

As a Capitalist I find it important to maintain civility. Fair and equitable trade cannot occur amongst social barbarism.

>>>you all have actively worked to destroy the program. <<<

Actually, most people on this site are either attempting to reform this system to ensure that they can keep leeching of it or reforming it to minimize their "contribution" (read: less loss). A few have recommended ending it. I am proud to say that I am one of the few that want to end the program (for my reasons see my posts on the values discussion).

>>>But still, for all
this, you expect working Americans to be NICE to you people? That's
a bit much, don' t you think?<<<

I do not expect or require that you be NICE. You only have to respect my individual rights as I do yours. I will be kind to you because it is my choice, you are not required to reciprocate. What is meant by 'you people'? It is this kind of senseless rhetoric that polarizes nations and causes for a battle among the largest mobs. The mob or majority that can gain control will force all others to conform to their ideology. This is fascism pure and simple. In America we protect individual rights, we promote individual responsibilty and ensure that all citizens are free to follow the path of their own choosing, as individuals. Social Security does not promote any of those ideas. It is a mandatory (fascist) program of public welfare (socialism). All that privatizers are almost asking and I am asking is that you leave me the decision of what to do with my property. How can you argue with that?

J.P., thank you for your contribution (amazing that this corporate pig is so civil, isn't it?), however, you have failed to answer the question I proposed in response to your 'stimuli':

Do the left-wingers you support have an opinion relevant to this discussion or are you planning on just hurling insults?
