Avoiding Distortion of the Facts in 2000

Representatives:

Americans Discuss Social Security has found that 74 percent of the public
believes that a solution to Social Security's solvency problems must go
beyond using budget surpluses.

We also know that the public has concerns that the Social Security reform
issue will become a part of partisan fights during the 2000 election
cycle.

If no Social Security reform measures are passed this year, what
reassurance do citizens have that the facts on this issue will not be
distorted in the election process?

What do you plan to do to ensure that the facts are not distorted?
