Re: Question on Safety Net

I firmly believe that Social Security must be maintained as a Social
Safety net. It is even now more important than when Wilbur Cohen and
Franklin D. Roosevelt and others first fought for it. That is so
because we now do not have the 'nuclear' family and the exentended
family to pick up the fall through individuals that simply cannot make
it on their own or have been unable to do so even with a lifetime of
work. Certainly we cannot expect the generous corporations to look out
for the fall through, when they will not spend $1000 to assist an
indigent homeless person through a winter, but will readily spend
$25,000 promoting a golf-outing hole because it is promotional and
deductible.(Right....) Please don't mess with the Safety net, it is the
right thing to keep!! Ron Egnor (and I believe you already have my
demographics).
