Unfortunately, it does not.

All people can choose to eliminate extras.  The problem is that
not all people opt for that.  Perhaps not everyone can afford to
be married, have 2.3 children, educate those children at the nation's 
finest institutions, pay taxes, save for retirement, have full
health coverage, go to Disney World once a year, own a home, etc.

Perhaps decisions need to be made.  Perhaps the American Dream has
changed to be something other than what Edward Albee purported.

The American Dream cannot be financed upon the taxes of its citizenry.
