If a private individual handled the money the way the government
has handled the money, they would be arrested.
The supposed trust fund is an irresistible temptation to the
elected officials who will never be able to say no to spending
money that is not theirs to either 1) buy votes with pork projects
to impress the voters or 2)pay debts owed to the powers that got
them elected by bending the tax laws or inventing regulations to
hurt competitors. (Corporate welfare)
There is no trust fund, it doesn't exist. We are approaching 6
trillion dollars of government debt (your debt), there is no budget
surplus, only IOU's from one government agency to another.
Paying for these IOU's means that individuals will be FORCED to
continue to have their paychecks garnished by the government. At
this point at only 12 to 13% including the FORCED payment by
employers. This money is taken by FORCE. It is not voluntary.
If you are an employer and don't pay the tax, your assets are
seized, resist and you will be arrested.
I am in favor of people having enough to live on when they retire,
even those that have not been able to save enough to live comfortably.
The government contributes to the idea that there is no need to help
your fellow man. By pushing the responsibility on the government,
you think the problem is resolved. You don't have to get your hands dirty
or spend time or money to feed and clothe the poor.
My solution to SS funding problem?
Current participants must be taken care of, even if they have received
more benefits than they have paid in. The payroll tax must end, the
sale of federal and state government owned land, properties,
monopolies, trains, toll roads must be sold. The proceeds from
the sale used to 1)buy private annuities for current retirees
and refunds to those wishing to invest money paid into the system
in the private sector.
If people spend their money foolishly, Americans will insure that they
will not die from starvation, nor will they be reduced to eating
dog food. They will have shelter. It will not be luxurious, but
they will be taken care of.
There is no saving Social Security, not without taxing your children
into poverty. It's a Ponzi scheme gone bust.
