Tom Spens comments make a lot of sense to me. Many of those who
have espoused seemingly conservative business-like positions
seem to me to be woefully ignorant of
1. human nature
2. twentieth century history
3. stock trading.
As for earlier American history, the AMERICAN DREAM is not now
and never was carte blanche for the greediest to soak up all
the worldly goods possible by any means possible. Alexander
Hamilton and John Adams must be looking down on some of these
"conservative" comments saying, "Tsk, tsk." Anyone who thinks he
is the absolute master of his destiny, really has not learned the
lessons of the 20th century. It is childish to think what happens
to each of us is entirely within our control.
Let's keep on the discussion subjects. Mr. Reichshauer makes
sense to me as does Mr. Nadler. Are these two views completely
compatible?
Social Security is not broken. It is just a bit arthritic.
Let's try to find the best medicine and apply it in the correct
dose without killing the patient.
