Subject: RE: Talking to each other/libraries as neutral forums
I'm interested in Lee's and Jamie's idea of libraries as "neutral forums." A few days ago in the trust thread, Dan Kahl noted that libraries typically don't play a very pro-active role in getting information out to the public or, presumeably, providng such "neutral forums" for the local community. How do the librarians out there feel about playing a more active role as a center for organized community activity and information when environmental controversies arise? What good examples are out there?
