RE: public knowledge

Very good question!! All cities, counties and special districts in California do NOT have enough resources to satisfy their constituents demands for services. That includes libraries since they are either under the auspices of local governments or a special district with a separate funding source(s). Libraries can provide a service to the public and government by having up-to-date technology to access the information available on-line and to know how and where it is. Maybe federal agencies could collectively list the most useful sites by topic for use by librarians and/or the public. State agencies could do the same. For example, if someone is interested in EMFs, which sites and references are available (both federal and state) .. Make them into book marks to give to the public .. get into the schools .. make a game out of it and put it on the web site (e.g. Recycle City on EPA Region 9's web site). Just some thoughts .. But, good question and well stated!!
