Limiting campaign contributions from individual donors has both its good points and bad points. While limiting the contributions can give everyone equal access to the politcal arena. It is well known that rich people gain more influence on the candidates through campaign contributions, which is an unfair advantage. Also, in an election, most of the time the incumbent would have an unfair advantage over the new comer because he is well established and has more power. Finally, the Supreme Court ruled that there should be no limit on the amount a candidate can spend, siting it would go against his/her First Ammendment right to free speech, how can this thought not be applied to the publics' right to give as much money as they would to any political campaign. I personally believe that the limit should be set higher than $1000 or that there should be no limit.
