Restricting soft money contributions is an infringement on our rights granted to us in the first amendment. However, I do believe that this infingement is justifyable. If a good portion of the money for campaigns comes from large contributions, the polititains' focus will be slanted toward the contributers. Because most working class citizens and people living below the national income average generally can not contribute $200 000 like their waelthy counterparts, politians would not have a fair representation of the public. The Fist Amendment does not mean that we can do or say anything at any time in any situation, over the years, our rights have become more and more resticted for the good of society. Putting limitations on campaign contributions does restrict our rights, however it is to protect ourselves form corruption in higher levels of power. It is also a way to ensure a fair democray,
