I, for one, am opposed to the idea of campaign finance reform because it imposes further restrictions on the already over-regulated lobby industry. As Congressman Dolittle of California testified before the House Committee that met in Arizona on Saturday, we already have enough layers of government intervention, and there must be a point where we draw the line.

Lobbyists are often the best way for members of Congress to remain informed. As legislators who may see thousands of bills in a single session of Congress, they do not have the time to fully research each individual issue. Lobbyists, who are not, as popular opinion may attempt to portray, corrupt monsters, spend their lives dedicated to informing Representatives and Senators. We, as Americans, have crafted an image of lobbyists as mongrels, and that impression is simply not true. I look forward to participating in this forum and continuing to defend the actions of such interests.
