  • X-topic: Local Issues/Superfund

As a former local elected official, I can attest to the fact that if the public perceives there is a risk, some action is needed.

Example : Public demands a STOP sign, all engineers agree a STOP sign is NOT needed. Action - put up a STOP sign.

Example: Public is concerned, particularly a low income neighborhood, and believes there may be pollution under their property (their only major asset usually). No one can agree if there is or isn't contamination. Action - find the money, or establish a fund, to install monitoring wells. Work with local community to allay fears, and prove the facts of the matter.

Don't let the situation fester.
