  • X-topic: Permits and Rules

"All permits and actions should be clearly announced in local media when it affects a local property in a certain district, not only those that appear to be politically benign."

Mark: There are brownfields all over parts of Greene County that I only found out about at ROTARY for goodness sakes when a local EPA person spoke. When asked why these aren't "public" his response was "they are" but published so quietly that few know about it. And when "called" on that statment he quickly changed the subject and when it wouldn't die, ended his talk.

*Clearly Announced" doesn't mean in the business notices in the front of the adverts in the paper. It means, 1st or second page *above the fold*. I know the EPA announcements don't sell ad copy, but it may be the only way that the news gets out becuase local radio only deals with page 1 or 2 above the fold in it's news summaries.
