I think there was a misunderstanding about listening to old timers (or the elderly). My comment was meant to ensure that people "DO" listen to them. Listening to the elderly in communities is were we get the most valuable information to do a better job in public participation. They are usually better aware of who has come and gone in the community, what has transpired down through the years, and are usually less likely to hold back their thoughts on what needs to be done (once you gain their trust). I did not mean to be patronizing in my comment.
