I am a public interest attorney and work with private lands voluntary conservation. I thank you for your interest in this topic. In other messages, I have spoken of the need for sensitivty training, to the land, the people who work the land, and to connect office personnel with how US farmers supply us with safe, affordable food and fiber. Right now many folks feel it is EPA vs. THEM. EPA has some excellent voluntary programs and grants. This should be a major emphasis with enforcement actions focused on the worst of the bad actors. Education and outreach to show farmers and producers which practices are best, ie. Best Management Practices, should be a mandatory component and focus of major EPA programs.
