I agree that it certainly is not necessarily a bad thing that the general public appears to trust the government, but here at the MMR, it went from one extreme to another, mostly centered around AFCEE taking control of the Installation Restoration Program away for the National Guard. The NG had engendered very little, if any, trust from the local citizens, and in the 5 years since AFCEE took over, it seems to have swung the other way, with most of the CERCLA issues now centered around details. The big picture topics seem to have gone away. The information sesison I mentioned previously probably would not have gotten any attendees if it had not involved children swimming in the pond, and whether it was still safe to do so, which it is.
