This first day of the Public Involvement Dialogue is a very special day for
me and all those who've worked so hard to enlist expert panelists, send the
information about the event all across the United States, and develop all
the information you can find on the website. As EPA's lead staff person
for the Public Involvement Policy and its implementation plan, I am
delighted you all are interested in the topic and in testing this
innovative participation technique. People from all 50 states,
territories and several other nations have registered so we are sure to see
very different perspectives and issues highlighted. Our discussion will
be rich, thorough and fun. The next two weeks will be exciting. I have
great expectations --- for learning from the experiences and knowledge of
all who registered, hearing ideas that will enhance the implementation
plan for EPA's new Policy, and encouraging additional formal comments on
the Policy before July 31, when the comment period ends.
Thanks so much to everyone in advance for your contributions to the
discussion. pat
