I am still concerned that the parents, businesses, students, and the rest of the public have only one elected official in the education governance system, and this plan proposes to reduce that voice to data gathering and reporting.

The office of the Superintendent of Instruction should be enlarged to give all of us a voice in the decisions that impact the education of our children, our neighbors, and our employees. If not the office of Superintendent of Instruction, then another ELECTED official whose ONLY responsibility is education so the voters can keep or replace the person in office as they meet or don't the needs of all our learners. Education needs to be primary, not secondary, to all the other concerns in a political office.
