RE: Unification of School Districts
The concept of a unified district is a good one. It would facilitate a comprehensive, articulated plan for learning from pre to grade 12 and hopefully with the local colleges and universities. I work with districts all over San Diego County. I would caution that just as a district can be too small, it can also be too large to get much accomplished with textbook adoption committees, content committees, district parent advisory committees, or professional development. This would entail major changes that would impact students, parents, and voters directly. It would need to be handled with a great deal of diplomacy and negotiation. If this stays in the plan, who would lead this change process? |
