Just an addendum to my earlier note---

Since we have research evidence that ECE programs do have a beneficial effect on later school performance, that is an additional validator that the developmental approach is an appropriate way to begin "schooling" with young children that is proven to be effective for later performance in a traditional elementary environment.

There are many specific curricula that are based on developmental precepts. It was the expectation of the working group that many different curriculum models would be acceptable, but "drill and kill" with large group instruction is not what we aspire to offer our very young children.
