I haven't seen any method of parental input metioned. Universal preschool must have the parental buy-in for it to be truly effective. My reading of some of the ECE literature seems to show that unless there is significant followup and training of the parent/guardian that there is not much of a "lasting effect". In the earlier discussions on emerging modes there was a recognition that not all teaching methods or environments work for all students.
I have a lot of concern that as we push education to a younger and younger age, we may start seeing more of a gap between the "normal" learner and those at either end of the "curve". Our goal must be to equip all children (and their families!) - with parental support and input with the education that is best suited to them, not fitting them in to the state standard/mandated entity.
